Quiet Confidence by Sue Owen

Every day we need fresh air, every day we need food, every day we need fellowship. If we miss out on these basic things we can soon become isolated, tired and weak.

God builds us up, guides us to keep us safe and provides for our every need. Not so that we just make it through and survive but so that we rise up and thrive. He is aware, loving and active in our day to day shifts and turns. He is ahead of the game and calls us to be like Him.

In my home life I like it when there is peace, companionship and plenty. So that everyone has their needs met, we all play our part, no one needs to raise their voice and the air is sweet.

With God I sense it’s the same – He has all things ready and anticipates our settled success and strength. He works on our behalf to secure a sweet day and not one of strife.

Here’s a couple of special verses I found, I’d like to share them with you.

In Psalm 110:1-2 (KJV) we read

“The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. The Lord shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies”.

To ‘send’ is found in Strongs no. H7971 – the word is shalach and it’s pronounced shaw-lakh’.

It means to grow, spread, reach forth and sow!! This is all about what God wants to do with and through your strength. He is at work in you and for you –

Strength is equal to force, majesty boldness and might – it even mentions loudness in strongs concordance which highlights that He will do the amplifying so we don’t have to!

Our strength doesn’t have to be displayed by argument or aggression. In fact in verse one we’re invited to sit – to settle, abide and continue. How restful is that?

To rule means to tread down and have dominion – those things that cause us grief need to be pushed back and pressed down and we can take authority over them from a place of rest.

Spending time with Jesus and an open bible makes all the difference to my day.

I ask the Lord to speak to me as I share my concerns. I then go digging to discover the deeper meaning of the verses I’ve just read. The bible is never dry and the reward is encouragement, fellowship and comfort.

These verses create the sense of peaceful rest and quiet confidence that the Lord wants us to experience and enjoy in every day life – I do love Him so much.

Isn’t it wonderful to know that God has prepared and keeps ready a vast expanse of influence for us to carry – but we do so from a seated and secure position.
